Each percentage, for each ore, represents the part of your initial damage that will not be resisted by the creature's elemental resistances. The Poison Elemental, with 100% poison resistances, takes absolutely no damage from any poison attack : a weapon made of verite, which deals 40% of poison damage, is surely not adviced in that case.
